Living Archive

Living Archive brings together five Black artists whose practices examine ancestry, memory, and the ways personal and collective histories are preserved across generations. Through painting, sculpture, collage, and mixed media, the exhibition explores how archives exist beyond institutions, living instead in our families, bodies, homes, and the stories we continue to tell.
Rather than viewing the archive as a fixed record of the past, Living Archive considers it an active, evolving space. Each artist reflects on inherited traditions, family photographs, oral histories, cultural practices, and material objects that shape identity while imagining new futures. Together, the works reveal that memory is not static; it is carried, reinterpreted, and continually created.
Featuring work by Brittany Baum, Chelsey Luster, DeJeonge Reese, Angelique Scott, and Khari Turner, the exhibition highlights a range of approaches to storytelling while emphasizing shared themes of care, resilience, belonging, and lineage.
